About One Book One Community
The Staunton–Augusta–Waynesboro area has successfully hosted a community-wide read since 2008. We are proud to present our sixth annual celebration of literature, with the 2013 One Book One Community, funded entirely by our area organizations. One Book One Community gives this area the opportunity to unite in the reading of one common book. We will read, discuss, and celebrate across the Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro communities. Activities will take place throughout March of 2013, and 1,280 copies of the book will be given away. The ultimate objective of this project is not only encouraging people to read, but getting the entire community involved in a literacy project that will span multiple generations. We seek to foster a sense of community and promote discussion. With our One Book One Community program, we celebrate a deeper appreciation for reading, literature, and community.
Please join us for events all month, but especially for the official 2013 One Book One Community Kickoff at the Gateway Theatre in Waynesboro from 5:30-7:30 pm!
