Dear Friends,
There is no question that 2009 was an extraordinary year for all of us. The impact of the economic crisis greatly affected our nation and our community. Like other Community Foundations across the country, we witnessed increased needs and reduced funding throughout our geographic service area. So it is with profound and grateful thanks that the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge offers our year end results.
The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro and the counties of Augusta, Highland and Nelson, forever. Each year, our grants help fill gaps in basic human services, health, arts, education, and more. In 2009, we distributed more than $400,000 to help meet these critical needs in our community. The cumulative value of our gifts now exceeds $3.7 million.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on why we are here, and why we are unique. Our motto is “For good. For ever.” Forever is a long time. It means ceaselessly, perpetually, everlastingly. As a permanent endowment, we will remain a constant source of support for the valuable non profits that provide services throughout our region. Your gift to the Community Foundation will continue to give back - not just next year, but in 50 years, 100 years, and beyond.
You make the difference in our ability to make our community vital and vibrant for the years to come. As always, we remain tremendously grateful for your generosity and your partnership with us.
Sincerely,
