Fort Defiance High School Celebrating 50 Years by Raising $50,000

As Fort Defiance High School kicks off its celebration of 50 Years (1962-2012) at the homecoming football game Friday night, a group of FDHS Alumni will announce intentions to raise money in an effort to establish a long term endowment fund with the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge.

This years’ homecoming football game at Fort Defiance High School, will be like no other. Students, parents and FDHS Alumni have plans to gather and even tailgate in celebration of Fort Defiance High School’s first 50 Years. In preparation for the next 50 years, a group of FDHS Alumni have plans in place to establish an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge that will benefit the school and students in a variety of ways for many years to come. Additionally, money will be raised for other short term projects such as an Activity Center which will be built near the football field. “FDHS Alumni are excited about the opportunity to come together and do something that will have such a positive impact on their high school and for many, their own children,” states Scott Kimmel, FDHS Class of 1989.

Additionally, efforts are in place to assist FDHS Alumni in connecting with fellow classmates via a website link and other social media forums. More details about the fundraising efforts and the alumni website will be announced at the game Friday night.
