The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is pleased to announce the distribution of over $100,000 in grants, thanks to the generosity of local Waynesboro resident, Patricia Eure Hersey. The Waynesboro YMCA, the Augusta Regional SPCA (directed at the Capital Campaign for the Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic), the Salvation Army (Waynesboro), and The Wildlife Center of Virginia were all the beneficiaries of the Rachel B. Eure Trust, left to Patricia Eure Hersey by her mother. Patsy Hersey died in May, but left behind an amazing legacy to four local non-profits. Becky Kohler, the Foundation’ s CEO, explained, “These generous gifts to the community exemplify the foresight of Mrs. Eure’s commitment to both her daughter Patsy and to her community at large. The Community Foundation is pleased to honor Patsy’s charitable intent to support these local programs.” Mrs. Hersey served on numerous civic boards and committees during her many years in Waynesboro, and had a heartfelt commitment to her community. She is survived by her husband, Robin Hersey, and her children, Brian MacNeill and Holland Paige Hersey, all of Waynesboro.
